Tissot was founded in 1853 in Le Locle, Switzerland, by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile. The brand quickly gained recognition for its innovative approach to watchmaking, becoming one of the first to mass-produce pocket watches and later pioneering dual time zone watches. Tissot was also the first to produce a watch made of plastic (Idea 2001), wood, stone, and mother-of-pearl. In 1930, Tissot merged with Omega under the SSIH group, which later became part of the Swatch Group. Known for combining traditional Swiss craftsmanship with modern technology, Tissot has served as the official timekeeper for various sports events, including MotoGP, the NBA, and the Tour de France. Today, Tissot is recognized globally for offering high-quality Swiss watches at accessible prices, maintaining its reputation as a bridge between heritage and innovation.
