MINERVA TANK ref 921

Enquire

Minerva is one of Switzerland’s historic manufactures, founded in 1858 in Villeret by Charles-Yvan Robert. Unlike many small maisons that relied heavily on ébauches, Minerva distinguished itself early on by developing in-house movements, especially chronographs. By the early 20th century, the brand had become renowned for precision stopwatches and chronograph calibers, supplying not only civilian markets but also timing instruments for professional and sporting use. Its calibers, such as the hand-wound chronograph movements from the 1930s onward, are today celebrated for their fine finishing, column-wheel construction, and classic architecture. Throughout the mid-century, Minerva remained relatively small but highly respected among connoisseurs for its technical artistry and traditional approach to watchmaking. Though it never reached the commercial scale of Omega or Longines, Minerva maintained its identity as a true manufacture, carrying forward the craft of high-quality chronograph production. In modern times, the brand was integrated into Montblanc under Richemont, ensuring that its legacy of precision chronographs and hand-finished movements continues. For collectors, vintage Minerva pieces represent both rarity and authenticity — a maison that embodies the soul of independent Swiss watchmaking.
