GERALD GENTA GENEVE OCTAGON ref G.2851.7

Gérald Genta Genève was founded in 1969 by legendary Swiss watch designer Gérald Genta, often called the “Picasso of watches.” Already renowned for creating icons like the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak (1972) and Patek Philippe Nautilus (1976), Genta used his own brand to push creative boundaries. The maison became famous for ultra-complicated timepieces, artistic dials, and playful luxury designs, including the use of Disney characters in official collaborations. Genta pioneered skeletonized watches, retrograde and jump hour displays, and complex minute repeaters, often in bold case shapes and precious metals. His independence allowed him to combine haute horlogerie craftsmanship with avant-garde aesthetics, making Gérald Genta Genève one of the most daring voices in late 20th-century Swiss watchmaking. The brand was acquired by Bulgari in 2000, and while the Gérald Genta name was gradually absorbed, its spirit lives on in Bulgari’s high-complication Octo Finissimo and anniversary reissues that honor Genta’s genius.
