Eterna is a Swiss watchmaker founded in 1856 in Grenchen. Known for innovation, the brand revolutionized automatic movements in 1948 with the Eterna-Matic — the first rotor system mounted on ball bearings, later symbolized by the five-ball logo.
In 1932, Eterna established ETA, which grew into Switzerland’s largest movement supplier. The brand also gained fame with the KonTiki line, launched in 1958 to honor Thor Heyerdahl’s expedition.
Despite changes in ownership, Eterna remains respected for its engineering heritage and lasting impact on Swiss horology.
