Blancpain, founded in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain in Villeret, Switzerland, is the oldest surviving watch brand in the world. Known for its commitment to traditional Swiss watchmaking, Blancpain never produced quartz watches during the quartz crisis, reinforcing its dedication to mechanical craftsmanship. The brand gained fame with the launch of the Fifty Fathoms in 1953, one of the first modern dive watches, developed in collaboration with French Navy combat divers. Now part of the Swatch Group, Blancpain continues to produce highly sophisticated timepieces featuring complications like tourbillons, perpetual calendars, and minute repeaters, all while upholding its motto: “Blancpain has never made a quartz watch and never will.”
